Indigenous Peoples Day

Mistwood Educational Center recognizes Indigenous Peoples' Day October 12th. This is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American and other indigenous peoples around the world and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October, and is an official city and state holiday in various localities. Ideas to celebrate the day.

On-Site Again!

Mistwood is happy to announce that since the community spread on Covid-19 in Humboldt has been under 15% for the last 14 days and we have stayed at Alert level 2, we will begin the process on going back to school. We are planning to starting with Plan-B Alternative 2, on October 19th. This plan is contingent on the Humboldt County Covid-19 data continuing to be he same or improve AND the air quality improving. Even if you are not planning in attending on-site classes, please check this schedule as some of the on-line course changed to make on-site education possible.

With on-site learning phasing in staring next week we will be moving to the Plan-B Alternative 2 schedule. This includes 1/2 day for each cohort on site. It also impacts the arrangement of on-line classes so please become familiar with the new schedule. To find our current schedule at any time please check our website www.mistwood.us

On-Site Instruction Procedures

We are excited to be able to offer some on-site instruction again.

However, their are some procedures everyone must follow for us to do this safely.

1- Family self assessment: Before coming to school each day children's temperature should be taken. If a child temperature is over 99.0F, OR they have been feeling feverish in the last 24 hours they should not go to school. Additionally, if the child has shown any symptoms related to Covid-19 in the last 24 they should not come to school. If the student has been out of the county in the last 14 days, if anyone in the house hold has had symptoms related to Covid-19 in the last 24, OR if anyone in the house hold has had direct contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 day, then the student should stay home. Contact the school is our student is able to attend for any of these reasons.

2-Masks: Student and family dropping off students, need to wear masks at school. This should be double layer (non-fleece) masks that cover the nose and mouth fully. Masks should NOT be vented. If a student/family member chooses to wear a vented mask (such as a vented N95) they must wear a second mask over the vent. For more information see the CDC website.

3- Distance: All students must stay a minimum of 6ft away from each other and 3ft away from staff, while at school. Food and drink (with mask removal) will only be available at designated times and places with proper distancing can be maintained.

4- Hand Washing: students must wash their hands, or clean them with hand sanitizer regularly throughout the day including: when arriving at school, entering a room, before and after going to the bathroom, before and after eating for drinking, after touching materials...

5- Supplies and Sanitation: Students need to bring their supply boxes with them to school. Students will not be allowed to share supplies. If a students is given supplies to use they are not to put that supply back because it must be sanitized first.
