Social media posts have become increasingly relevant in education due to their ability to enhance communication, collaboration, and engagement among students, educators, and the wider community. For this activity, students are to create a social media post from the view point of a character of their choice from "Other Words For Home."
Choose a character from "Other Words For Home": It could be a main character or a supporting character.
Understand the character: Brainstorm the character's traits, feelings, and experiences. Think about how the characters might express themselves on social media based on what they know about them.
Add a picture: Draw a picture that shows what your character might look like or what they're doing in the post. Use color and your imagination but make sure it is school appropriate.
Caption or Message: Write a caption or message for your post that reflects your character's thoughts, feelings, or actions. Be creative and try to capture the essence of your character.
Once students have completed their social media post, share with the class and "comment" on each others posts!
