Choose your favorite (main) characters in the book and write a diary entry they may have kept during their journey through Freewater.
Steps:
Choose your character-Who do you find interesting? Whose perspective do you want to explore?
Set the scene- Imagine where your character is in the story right now. Describe the setting briefly at the beginning of your diary entry.
Reflect on events- Think about what has happened to your character in the story so far. What adventures have they had? What challenges have they faced? Reflect on these events as if you were the character experiencing them firsthand.
Express feelings and emotions- Characters have feelings, just like real people do. Write down how your character feels about the events they've experienced. Are they excited, scared, happy, or sad? Use descriptive words to express their emotions.
Include details- Add details to make your diary entry come alive. Describe what your character sees, hears, smells, and feels. Include sensory details to make the reader feel like they're right there with your character.
Use the right tone- Think about your character's personality and voice. How would they talk and express themselves? Write your diary entry using the tone and language that fits your character best.
Wrap it up- End your diary entry with a closing thought or reflection. Summarize what your character has learned or experienced during their journey. You can also leave a cliffhanger to keep the reader wanting more!
