The International Pen Pal Initiative is a student-organized initiative that will run from early March to the end of the winter. For more information, read our FAQs. (If nothing else, you'll be mildly entertained.)
The pandemic has left U of T students scattered around the globe, without the campus as a common meeting-place. Events are still being held virtually, but we’re all sick of staring at screens all day.
Obviously, the answer is a medium of communication that has been declining in popularity since the invention of the telephone in 1876. Letters are a fun creative medium, and now that we can’t see anyone in person, they’re also a tangible way to connect with people.
We’re pairing up U of T students currently residing in Canada with those residing abroad, to write letters to each other. Each participant will receive a letter-writing kit with supplies including stationery, envelopes, and prompts to start your letter. Postage will also be included for participants residing in Canada. And! We have a Discord server, where you can exchange ideas, meet other participants and hang out with us.
There are a limited number of spots available, so sign up as soon as you can!
