About the Service:

Mississippi (MS) Hearing Aid Specialist Practice Course

The Mississippi Department of Health (MDH) has revised the regulations for the licensure of hearing aid specialists in Mississippi. The MDH is currently accepting applications for hearing aid specialist licenses. The new regulations will take effect on July 1, 2016.

The Mississippi Board of Optometry has approved a course that meets the requirements for initial licensure as a Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist (LHAS). The course was developed by Dr. James B. Knott, Jr., President of the American Academy of Audiology and one of the foremost authorities on hearing loss in America today. The course meets or exceeds all requirements set forth by the MDH and is designed to prepare individuals to be successful in their profession as an audiologist.

The Mississippi State Board of Optometry requires that all applicants complete this course prior to submitting applications for licensure as an LHAS in the state of Mississippi.
