Mission Mutt Dog Rescue was founded by Madison Kossow
After graduating from high school and moving to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University, I decided to establish my non-profit, Mission Mutt Dog Rescue. Drawing from years of volunteering and fostering with a local rescue in South Florida, I felt compelled to create a foster-based organization with a focus on rescuing dogs from kill shelters. Every year, countless dogs and puppies face euthanasia due to overcrowding—a heartbreaking reality I aim to combat.
With Mission Mutt Dog Rescue, my goal is to rescue and find homes for as many dogs as our resources allow, one dog at a time.

I’m incredibly honored to share that I was featured in the AWI Quarterly Winter 2025 edition in an article titled “Madison’s Mission: No Mutt Left Behind.” The piece highlights my journey, Madison Kossow, and the founding of Mission Mutt Dog Rescue, a foster-based nonprofit dedicated to saving dogs impacted by abuse, neglect, abandonment, and the pet overpopulation crisis.
Mission Mutt was built on the belief that every dog deserves a chance—especially those who are most often overlooked. What started as a small idea has grown into a rescue saving lives across the country, made possible entirely by fosters, volunteers, adopters, and supporters who stand behind this mission.
