I received my multiple-subject teaching credential and Masters of Education from University of LaVerne. Also, I really enjoyed my time at CSUCI earning my bachelors in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. I have been working with students since 2010.
My love for education was a direct result of spending time with my grandmother as a child. My grandmother worked as a para-educator for several years for Ventura Unified School District, but her true passion was working for the Migrant Education Program. I looked forward to going with my grandma to visit different classrooms and it was modeled to me that education is important in life. That same excitement working with children from all walks of life make teaching even more rewarding today.
My goal as an educator is to teach our students much more than curriculum. I want them to begin to apply what they are learning in the classroom in their daily life (and future). One piece of advise my grandfather gave me when I became a teacher was, "Always tell your students the truth. Teach them about history...the good...the bad...and the ugly." My grandparents are the reason I am a teacher.
My role is to spark deep thinking, inspire my students to try something new, and to make learning FUN! Thank you for trusting me with your children.
