This Week's Learning:
Reading: I can meet with a group and discuss book characters
Continue to read, read, read at home! Students should be reading 20 minutes nightly.
When reading at home this week, ask your child to identify non-fiction text features
Ask your child to read out loud to practice their fluency!
RAZ kids is a great way to promote reading as well as comprehension practice at home!
Writing: I can write a fairy tale and complete a mother's day project
Discussion Ideas for Home:
Ask your child what their favorite part of writing is!
Ask you child about a topic that they know a lot about, discuss five things they could write about that topic
Grammar: I can capitalize proper nouns
Phonics: I can identify silent letters
Math: I can multiply using repeated addition

Imagine Math and Imagine Math Facts are great websites students can use from home to help support growth in math skills. Both sites can be accessed through the myhpisd portal linked here.
Please work with your child on addition and subtraction facts up to 20- these should be mastered by 2nd grade
Find coins around the house and practice counting the totals with your child, or have them earn coins for the week doing chores, etc.
Social Studies: I can identify the difference between goods, services, producers, consumers, supply and demand.
