Hi! My name is Lauren Newell, and I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade this year! I graduated from Clemson University with my Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education. This is my first year teaching, but I have experience in education, having had the opportunity to be in classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to fifth grade since I was in high school through multiple teacher preparation program.
I'm excited to get to know each of you this year, so I thought I'd start by sharing a little about myself. My favorite color is blue, and if I could eat one type of food forever, it would definitely be Mexican food! My favorite drink is Sweet Tea, and I can never say no to a Reese's or a scoop of my favorite ice cream, Hershey's Lil' Blue Panda. My favorite restaurant is Chili's.
I love teaching Language Arts because I enjoy helping students discover a love for reading and writing. Outside of school, you'll often find me reading, hiking, spending time at the lake or the racetrack, putting together puzzles, or having game nights with my family. I also love spending time with my 7-year-old niece, Emma, whether we're playing games, doing crafts, or going on little adventures together.
I also love spending time with my three cats - Callie, Mittens, and Oliver! They each have their own unique personalities and always keep me entertained. Whether they're curling up with me while I read, "helping" me put together a puzzle, or simply making me laugh, they're a very important part of my family.
When it's time to relax, I enjoy watching Friends, Disney movies, or playing Mario Kart: Double Dash and Disney Dreamlight Valley. I also love playing Monopoly, Uno, and Rummikub. My favorite sports are softball and college football. I'm a big Clemson Tigers fan, so don't be surprised if you see a little orange and purple around the classroom during football season!
Fall has always been my favorite time of year! I love the cooler temperatures because it means I get to wear my cozy sweaters. I love spending time outdoors, seeing the leaves change colors, watching football games, having bonfires with friends and family, and visiting pumpkin patches. It's also one of my favorite times to read a good book by the fire with a warm drink nearby.
