Miss Killen's 3rd Grade!

I'm Miss Killen and this is my third year teaching at Woodridge, but my 5th year of teaching. I have taught two years of 5th grade and this will be my second year of teaching 3rd (shh....3rd is my favorite BY FAR :) ) Math is my favorite subject, but my favorite activity to do in class is read aloud. My favorite book to read to students is Because of Winn Dixie. I loved school when I was a kid and to this day I LOVE learning new things. I chose to be a teacher so I could help children develop a passion and love of learning new things and skills, as well as understanding why education is so important. I'm originally from a small town near the Mendocino Coast. I went to UC Davis and have lived in the greater Sacramento area for the past 9 years. Here are some of my favorites:

How can I help my child be successful this year?

  1. Help your student be at school on time every day.

  2. Check in after school with them and ask them what they learned that day.

  3. Read with your child every day.

  4. Practice math facts (adding, subtracting and soon multiplication).

  5. Join our Google Classroom and check on their assignments/assessments regularly.

  6. Supplement with the free educational web sites listed below.

  7. Contact me with any questions, comments or concerns.

  8. Cheer them on, celebrate their successes and motivate them through their challenges.
