Miss Valerie Douty

Welcome!!

My name is Miss Valerie Douty and this is my fifth year teaching at Mechanicsburg Middle School and my fifth year teaching overall. I graduated in May 2020, from Duquesne University, with a Bachelor's degree in Middle Level Education. In April of 2023, I earned my Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh for Curriculum and Instruction while also obtaining a STEAM Education Certification. Since I was in fifth-grade, I have wanted to be a teacher. I LOVE school and learning new things. This school year, I hope to empower students to actively engage with their learning, so they can be the best version of themselves.

Our classroom will be a place of learning for everybody! I am so excited to explore and grow with you all :)

Pittsburgh Sports

Steelers, Pirates, Penguins...you name it, I love my Pittsburgh teams

I have been to: 3 Steelers' games, 2 Pitt games, 6 Pirates' games, and 3 Penguins' games

Baking

Obsessed with making cookies and cakes

While I enjoy homemade desserts, Funfetti cake is my all time favorite

Traveling

In 2015, I was an exchange student for 2 weeks in France. This exchange was apart of the MASH French Exchange program.

Other places I have traveled: London, Rome, Iceland, Alabama, Boston, Canada, Florida Keys, Washington D.C., North & South Carolina, Sedona, Ohio, NYC, Las Vegas, Santa Monica, San Francisco, & Hawaii
