My name is Ashley Donahue and this is my third year at Sage Canyon!
I am so thrilled to be back as part of the 5th grade team at Sage Canyon this year. I can’t wait to learn all about your child. My goal is that when your student leaves my classroom at the end of the year, they are resilient, kind, independent thinkers who can recognize mistakes as a sign of learning instead of failure or an indicator of their worth. I have a commitment to building a classroom community: we learn best when we feel safe, seen, and known, and I hope that our classroom will be a place where students both give and receive encouragement to and from their peers.
I grew up in Southern California and studied at Biola University. I love living in Colorado, National Parks, hiking, reading, arts and crafts, Dodgers baseball, Survivor, Trader Joe's, and brownies. Prior to teaching, I spent the past ten years or so working with middle school students in the church setting and have loved seeing them grow, learn to think critically, and build friendships as they discover their gifts. This past year I graduated with my Masters in Teaching from Metro State University Denver. I consider myself a lifelong learner and so enjoy passing on a passion for learning to students.
Throughout the school year, I will send weekly emails about our classroom adventures. I am also available through email with any additional questions. I can't wait for a great year ahead!
