Welcome to The Book Nook! My name is Miss Davis, and I am a current junior at Eastern Connecticut State University studying Elementary Education and English with a concentration in Elementary Education. I am currently in the CARE Program in hopes of becoming a future educator. I have had experience working with children of all ages as a camp counselor, during my two clinical experiences teaching in 3rd grade and 6th grade, as an aid for summer school, a volunteer at various elementary schools, a long term sub in Kindergarten, and a dance teacher at my local dance studio. This website is a collection of a few of my favorite diverse novels for upper elementary students, grades 3-6! I hope The Book Nook inspires educators, students, and parents to read more! Happy reading :)
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe every student is unique, as they bring their own strengths and experiences into the classroom. It is my goal to recognize and build on these differences to enhance their learning. I differentiate my teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles, adapting strategies to help students grasp key concepts and challenge themselves. I’m committed to continuously seeking new ideas and effective strategies through collaboration with colleagues and staying up to date with educational research and news. I strive to model the value of lifelong learning, showing students that learning doesn’t stop outside the classroom. By making lessons relevant and applicable to real-world situations, I help students see the value of their education beyond academics. I firmly believe that creating a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable is essential for effective learning. I prioritize building strong, respectful relationships with my students, getting to know them both in and out of the classroom. Ultimately, my goal is to prepare students for the challenges of an ever-evolving world, equipping them with practical skills they can apply throughout their lives.
