ABOUT US
Helena Alves (PT) and Mar Espona (CAT) first met at the Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School, where they quickly discovered a strong creative connection as both dancers and choreographers. Now they create their own works in Copenhagen.
Their work is rooted in humour, simple concepts, and clear storylines. They love inviting audiences into playful, relatable worlds where dance and theatre merge seamlessly - always with the hope that people have fun along the way.
Through their creations, they explore society’s unspoken rules and challenges - love, ageing, relationships, and more. Drawing from their own experiences and those of people around them, they craft performances that allow audiences to feel seen, heard, and understood.
Helena and Mar collaborate with other dancers and artists they find inspiring, expanding their collective imagination and perspectives. In 2025 they have welcomed Olatz Egia (ES) And Angeliki Nikolopoulou (GR). Now, they will collaborate with Francisco Nascimento (PT) for the creation of their first full length piece Voyeur.
In early 2025, while sitting together in their neighbourhood café, they decided to found MISPRONOUNCED. A way to formalize their continuous reaserch into a shared choreographic and movement language. Though they no longer live together, they continue to share the same special bond and excitement for creating.
