Comic book series.
Volume 1: School's Out
Volume 2: Into the Wood
Three high-school girls from different social circles are drawn together the night before Halloween, Mischief Night. This trio of misfits exceeds typical pranks and hijinks in their quest to avenge far more insidious behavior.
We love sharing information about the process of creating this comic book series. We hope the story and illustrations will inspire other artists and storytellers to share their unique visions.

Every page of this comic book series is inspired by an original screenplay of the same name.
In late 2019, writer Jean Louise O'Sullivan and her producing partner Cosimo Mariano were gearing up to produce their next feature film, Mischief Night. They had a compelling script, an engaged creative team, and amazing locations. But when the pandemic emerged, their plan to film in the Fall of 2020 fell apart.
Cosimo wanted Jean Louise's story to be told. He conceptualized a graphic novel adaptation that could be developed during the stay-at-home order, without a multi-million-dollar budget.
Producer Evan Jonigkeit of Rooster Films joined the team and helped recruit graphic artists, Amanda June Boucher and Karen Bu.
Now, their vision has emerged in two issues and 54 pages of original art, with more to come! Their work will be issued in single-issue comics and eventually compiled into a full-length graphic novel and feature film.
Merritt High School buzzes with anticipation about the coming Halloween weekend. Flyers promoting a clandestine Mischief Night party circulate among the student body introducing our main characters by inviting them to night of unsupervised debauchery. Emily, the captain of the cheerleading squad, who has suffered a painful fall from grace following a humiliating breakup, is handed a flyer as she learns the school’s rumor mill is churning out lies intent on damaging her reputation. Jade, who wears her goth like a suit of armor and carries a dark family secret, finds an invite taped to the mirror in the girls bathroom while she is reapplying thick black eyeliner. Painfully shy Velma trips down a flight of stairs, breaks her glasses, and is hit over the head with an invite that was not intended for her. This trio of high school seniors, all outcasts in their own way, meet in the girls bathroom where they let their guards down and begin to develop a friendship. We learn Merritt High School is a breeding ground for bad behavior and it is about to reach a boiling point. Some students are willing to go to great lengths to attend the secret Mischief Night bash, but Emily chooses to boycott the partying in attempt to avoid her ex- boyfriend. She enlists Jade and Velma to accompany her and the three girls vow to have a wild night of their own.
Schools out and we experience Mischief Night straight out of the late 1990’s. Pumpkins are smashed, eggs are lobbed, and trees are toilet papered. Jade, Emily, and Velma are caught trespassing. They escape an irate homeowner by retreating into the woods. The girls build a campfire and share horror stories that reveal personal secrets. As a mutual understanding emerges between them the depth of their friendship is forged.
Emily, Jade, and Velma emerge from the woods feeling newly empowered. They stop at Jade’s house where they confront her step-brother as he is about to publish private photos of her online. The altercation leads to an electrical fire that consumes the house in a flames. The girls flee the scene in a stolen Camaro as they are hurled towards the party they swore they would not attend.
The festivities at the Mischief Night party are degrading into a blurry free-for-all as the girls roll up in the Camaro. They confront Emily’s ex-boyfriend and the whole school sees his true colors. Velma overcomes her timid demeanor and single handedly rids the school of a menace who has been tormenting her female classmates and her. As our protagonists are leaving the party Emily’s ex-boyfriend races towards them in his sports car intent on destroying our heroines. His car combusts as he is about to commit an act of vehicular homicide. The girls find solace and safety by relying on each other. Revenge is a dish best served hot, like a flaming bag of shit on Mischief Night.
