Experiential learning with CEMACS. Bringing students to the natural lecture hall with hands-on learning experience at Langkawi Geopark and Pantai Pasir Hitam intertidal reef. Samplings were done during dusk and dawn to look at different marine invertebrates at the area.
Faunal survey of benthic invertebrate animals was carried out by CEMACS, Universiti Sains Malaysia in the shallow waters around the Langkawi Island, in the Andaman Sea, Malaysia. Mainly echinoderms and molluscs were collected around Pulau Payar by scuba diving surveys. The collected specimens were fixed after taking photographs and getting tissue samples, Additionally, experiments on ocean acidification were also carried out. The specimens will be studied taxonomically in Universiti Sains Malaysia and National Museum of Nature and Science.
