MIRU2023 WAKATE program

The MIRU2023 WAKATE Program provides an opportunity for wakate(young) people interested in the field of computer vision to learn knowledge that will be useful in advancing their research and development and to interact with like-minded members. We welcome participation not only from students and young researchers majoring in computer vision, but also from people in other fields and companies.

Theme:MIRU for DATA

This year's MIRU WAKATE Program will focus on "Data" in a group survey! As data used in research continues to grow in scale, data as well as models are becoming more important than ever before. In order to collect good data and utilize it properly, it is necessary to consider various factors from measurement, collection, formatting to social impact. In this project, participants will form teams of several people for each topic, conduct a survey with advice from the executive committee members, and present the results at the presentation session on the first day of MIRU. Through the survey, we hope that participants will understand the process by which the data they casually collect and use are generated, and that the group work will create new opportunities for exchange among the younger members of the team.

Flow of the this Program

From application to start of project

Participants in this program will be asked to choose one of several topics of interest that have been prepared in advance. Based on these preferences, the young program committee members will group the entire group of participants into several topics.

From the start of the project to the period of MIRU

Based on your preferences, a team will be formed and an online kick-off meeting will be held in mid-May. Each team will then conduct a survey of its assigned topic from the start of the project until the day before MIRU. Each team will be assigned two committee members as mentors to help ensure a smooth survey.。

Before the MIRU Session

We will gather at the site prior to the plenary session, and after an exchange planning and work day, the presentation will be held in the morning of the first day. The presentations will be broadcast live on YouTube. Since all the planning for the Young Scientists Program (except for the best teams) will be completed before the plenary session, we do not plan to have any time during the plenary session.

During MIRU plenary session

The first lecture of the tutorial will be given by a professor recommended by the Young Scientists Program, who will give a lecture related to the data. There will be time for young program participants to interact with the speakers. In addition, the best teams will be awarded and will present their presentations to the MIRU participants in the main hall on the last day of the plenary session.
