This film is a 5 hours video clip of a shell-less sleeping snail's heartbeats. I made a 5-hour long soundtrack of 'A Trip To Home' for it. It is a 3D surround sound of a combination of many transports. I could not know what was the dream of this little snail. But when I was watching it, I was dreaming about a long trip to home.
This is an animated video of 12 mixed breed quails that hatched out from the third group of eggs on May 22.
Simba is a Japanese Coturnix quail. Although he looks like a baby parrot, that is because he was a premature baby. He hatched out from one of my incubation project eggs. We spent 5 delightful days together before he left. I felt very said, but couldn’t do anything. He didn’t even know how too eat and drink. Although I was hand-feeding him every two hours with a syringe, he was still getting weaker every day. So I decided to take him out to a park, let him enjoy the sunlights and smell the flowers at least once in his life.
This is the final cut of Simba. I chose to use mosaic to present the final work because the blurred mosaic colour block gives people a sense of nostalgia. It is like a segment of our memory, with a clear emotional colour, making us think that we can clearly reproduce those memory segments in our brain. In fact, when we want to explore its details, it is ambiguous. We seem to be separated from the scene in memory by a bathroom window.
