Welcome to my website. I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Hawaii Manoa. My research interests lie in the intersection of urban and housing economics , finance, and macroeconomics. Broadly, my research agenda is aimed at understanding how over-the-counter markets for illiquid assets - such as housing, bonds, and loans - function and what are their macroeconomic implications.
Some of my recent and ongoing work has been aimed at answering questions such as:
Housing:
1. Why do new homes in the U.S. sell at a premium, if pre-sold (sold before construction begins)? [Paper]
2. How does the role of realtors as intermediaries affect prices and liquidity on the housing market? [Paper]
3. How important are credit frictions for new housing construction and the housing market as a whole? [Paper]
4. What are the effects of tax policies on prices and liquidity on the housing market? [Paper]
Macro-finance:
1. What is the macroeconomic impact of trade frictions in the secondary corporate loan market? [Paper]
2. What is the effect of financial crises on the real economy? [Paper 1] [Paper 2]
