HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Well, kinda. We’re still happy nonetheless!
We decided to leave the December manifest board up for January to let its positive projections carry into the new year. Happy Black History Month! It’s amazing how fast the year seems to be going already.
For February, I decided to take on the Mirkwood Commons Mural myself. I felt the need for color after the past two months. With the chalkboard, the landscape had been a little dark, so this month has a splash of color to it.
February's Mirkwood Commons Mural is entitled "What’s in the Water?” “WITW” depicts roots twisted to spell “youth” and growing into a tree whose branch has grown paper planes, each of which are taking flight. The name speaks to the quality of nurturing that our children are receiving during this tumultuous political and social time. The larger paper plane, decorated with the phrase "Thank You," is dedicated to the Community of Waverly, a gesture of gratitude for the tremendous support and positive feedback Mirkwood has received – as well as the work prior artists have created to contribute to the positivity of our neighborhood.
Please stop by and check it out. The mural is located at the corner of E. 33rd St. and Frisby St. Come by and check it out!
