Our mission is to provide professional artistic opportunities for artists in Baltimore City through a public art exhibition, offer a platform to sell goods, and maintain a vibrant green space in the Waverly neighborhood.
The Mirkwood Mural is a public art space located in Baltimore City. The Mirkwood Mural serves as an exhibition platform for artists in Baltimore and surrounding areas. The space features the Mirkwood Mural Kiosk, which provides space for community communication and green space for art market opportunities. Residents are able to add messages to the Community Thread and communication materials to the Kiosk, connecting the community to resources.
The Mirkwood Mural seeks to provide professional opportunities to local artists, as well as youth. Every quarter, an artist or group of youth design and paint a mural to be exhibited in the space. Working on the mural provides youth the learning opportunity to develop their skills as artists and learn to work collaboratively.
Murals add to the community in various ways: Beautification, preservation of space and representation of the people who live there. The Mirkwood Mural not only provides a platform for community members to share art and communication, but a vending space to sell goods and products of working artists.
The Mirkwood Mural has been operating since 2016. It is located in the Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore City at 33rd and Frisby Streets.
