My name is Mirjana (Mira) Pantic and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media, Communications, and Visual Arts at Pace University. I produce research and teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in digital journalism and communications.

As a professor, I am determined to help students develop and strengthen their writing, reporting, research, presentation, and persuasive skills. In addition to teaching, I am highly devoted to exploring the impact of new technologies on journalism, alterations in journalistic practices, and changing media ecology. From my graduate studies, I have been publishing articles in prominent journals and presenting research at top national and international conferences.

I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2017, the same year I joined Pace University. My dissertation titled, "Uses and Gratifications of Digital Media: The Case of Live Blogs" earned the outstanding dissertation award from the University of Tennessee's College of Communication and Information.

Prior to moving to the U.S. in 2014, I lived in Serbia, where I spent 12 years working as a journalist and editor-in-chief for diverse media organizations. During my career in journalism, I conducted interviews with high-profile individuals from Europe and received five awards, including the award for investigative journalism granted by the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade and the Independent Journalist Association of Serbia. I have covered a vast array of events – from violent protests in Serbia to war crimes and international negotiations in Brussels.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Communication Studies and a Master's Degree in European Studies, both earned from the University of Belgrade, Serbia.

As a journalist and scholar, I have traveled across Europe and the U.S. to participate in diverse workshops and conferences. My passion for journalism, diversity, and education brought me to New York, where I currently live and work.
