初めて自分で育てたトウモロコシを食べた時は、あまりの美味しさに驚きました。

でも、私が美味しいと思うものは他の動物にとってもおいしいらしく、いろんな動物に狙われます。

ある年は、収穫しようと思ったその日の朝に、狢に持っていかれてしまいました。

次の年は、まだ収穫するには早い頃に、カラスに食われてしまいました。

ただでさえ育てる労もあるのに、成果を全部をさらわれることを防ごうと、柵を立てテグスを張り、一生懸命対策して守ることに疲れてしまって、育てること自体をやめてしまった作物です。

だけど、自分で育てたトウモロコシが信じられないくらい美味しいことを、私はよく知っています。

When I first ate corn that I grew myself, I was surprised at how delicious it was.

But it seems that what I think tastes good to me also tastes good to other animals, and I am targeted by all sorts of animals.

One year, a badger took my crops on the morning of the day I was going to harvest them.

The next year, crows ate them when it was still too early to harvest.

I was tired of putting up fences and stringing up tegus to protect the crop from being snatched away, even though it was a lot of work to grow the crop, so I stopped growing it.

But I know very well that the corn I grow tastes unbelievably good.
