山に登るとフキの枯れ葉の中に時々伏している蝙蝠です。
日本の山は神様がいて、その神聖な山に伏して修業をして神通力を得た人を山伏といって、天狗と同一視していたらしい。
The Japanese name for the Ussuri tube-nosed bat is "ko-tengu" bat.
When you climb a mountain, you can sometimes find this bat lying down among the dead leaves of Japanese butterbur.
Japanese mountains were believed to be inhabited by gods, and people who practiced asceticism on these sacred mountains and gained divine powers were called yamabushi (mountain ascetics) and were considered to be the same as tengu.
(Tengu are Japanese monsters. A ko-tengu, also known as a crow-tengu, is said to be a tengu with a bird-like face that flies freely in the sky and manipulates divine powers).
Medium:cypress and the coloring is acrylic paint.
Size: about 10 cm high, 6.5 cm wide, and 6.5 cm deep.
