What is Jaundice?

Jaundice is a yellowish discoloration of the skin, mucous membrane and of the sclera caused by elevated levels of the chemical Bilirubin in the blood. This condition is mainly caused due to hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, blockage of the bile duct by a gallstone or tumour or toxic reaction to a drug or medical herb.

Causes :- Red Blood Cells travel to our liver, where they’re broken down. Bilirubin is the yellow pigment formed by the breakdown of these old Red Blood Cells.
