My story begins in Mataró, a coastal city just 30 minutes from the vibrant energy of Barcelona. Growing up between two languages, I developed an early fascination with how words shape our reality, a curiosity that eventually led me to the University of Barcelona. There, I immersed myself in the "Languages and Modern Literatures" program—a rigorous four-year journey through Spanish and German Philology. It was during my final year, while collaborating with the German Philology Department, that I discovered my path wasn't just about speaking languages, but about understanding the soul behind them through academic research.
After graduating, a scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Education (MECD) took me to Vienna as a Language Assistant. At 22 years old, I found myself in two Austrian institutes facing my first great challenge: teaching Spanish—the world’s second most spoken mother tongue—to students with a completely different worldview. Under the mentorship of Anneliese Rötzer, I learned that teaching is an art form that goes far beyond textbooks. She introduced me to the "magic" of project-based planning and pedagogical competencies—concepts my philology manuals hadn't mentioned, but which would change the trajectory of my career forever.
Life then led me to the Free University of Berlin to pursue a Master’s in General and Comparative Literature. However, 2020 had other plans, and the global pandemic forced a pause in my studies—an event that turned out to be a "blessing in disguise." Returning to Barcelona, I entered the public secondary school system during an exceptional opening for graduates. While teaching Spanish, English, and German at the Rubió i Ors Institute, I completed my Master’s in Secondary Education at Pompeu Fabra University. Those three years solidified my vocation; I learned something new from my students every day, yet I felt a growing hunger for a deeper connection with the global educational landscape.
In August 2023, I seized the opportunity to cross the Atlantic and join the faculty at Bartlett High School, near Chicago. Immersing myself in the United States educational system has been a masterclass in diversity and pedagogical innovation. This international experience, combined with a decade of intellectual curiosity, has strengthened my vision for the next chapter of my career: transitioning into doctoral research in Education. My goal is to bridge the gap between classroom practice and academic theory, focusing on the beautiful complexity of intercultural identity in our increasingly globalized world.
