📄 2025 Registration of interest form
Complete the form to receive updates about the online events, as well as the Zoom link. Completing the form does not commit you to attending the event.
This page contains pre-event lesson, as well as the base slides from the 2024 event.
It doesn't repeat information from the Year 10 event, although it will briefly introduce the opportunities for students.
It has been timed to coincide (partly) with recess, and could be supervised by a librarian or careers advisor.
It will be recorded - while the link will not be posted online, if you submit an expression of interest, you will receive both the Zoom link (1 seat per school) as well as the recording link.
We cannot give the Zoom link to individual students, due to Zoom participant limits.
The recording will only be accessible using the email address you provide.
The session aims to provide concrete knowledge to students about working and living in Japan. It does not repeat information from the Year 10 event, although it will briefly introduce the opportunities for students.
Specifically, it takes a 'you could have a working experience in Japan, as part of your career' approach. It draws upon general information from recruiters (in-demand industries, expected proficiency level, things to keep in mind, visa information), as well as providing concrete information about the JET Programme and internship opportunities.
It does not guarantee or recommend any specific jobs or careers in Japan. We personally don't think that this is the best approach for Languages moving forward, particularly with the advent of generative AI. However, it does make a strong case for the intercultural knowledge, self-growth, confidence, life experience, lifelong friendships, resilience, and joy to be had from living overseas.
It also highlights the 'soft skills' you can gain from working and living in a different environment and language.
We believe it will be a valuable and informative session for your students!
