I am working on questions in Probability Theory / Mathematical Statistics, in Earth Sciences, and on the intersection between these two disciplines.
In Mathematics, my current research interests lie in stochastic geometry, in particular for Gaussian fields. I am also interested in stochastic (partial) differential equations, including interacting particle systems, driven by fractional Brownian motion (or other Hermite processes) and statistical inference for such processes. I often use the Malliavin-Stein machinery for Gaussian processes in my work, and I am fascinated by its various applications.
As postdoctoral researcher at MPI for Meteorology my main project was understanding and quantifying interactions between near-surface processes in the tropical ocean and atmospheric convection. For this I ran the Earth System model ICON and analysed the output. Now I am continuing my work on this project.
On the intersection of Mathematics and Geosciences my interests are in demonstrating theoretical results for processes in nature that can be modelled involving randomness, such as turbulence.
