Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

All Primary and Elementary students will participate in curbside drop-off and pick-up. Toddlers will be dropped off at the gate to the Toddler playground. To minimize visitors on campus, parents will not be allowed to walk a child into class.

If a child arrives or is picked up outside the scheduled arrival and departure times, regardless of what class they are in, parents MUST call the office prior to arriving with an estimated arrival time. MIR staff will escort children to or from their classrooms and meet you at curb outside the MIR office.

Locations

Locations for curbside drop-off and pick-up will be as follows. Refer to the maps below for assistance.

• Jean/Maryhelen, Nikki, and Sara's classes will drop off and pick up in one line on the South Campus parking lot

• Kara/Jenny and Maria/Jennifer’s class will drop off and pick up on the east (right) side of the North Campus parking lot

• Elementary will drop-off and pick-up from the west (left) side of the North Campus parking lot

Every effort will be made for only staff members to touch clipboards used for signing in and out. Parents will be provided with a personal stylus-pen to sign their name without touching the board.

Morning Drop-off Procedures

Morning Drop-off is from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. MIR staff will greet parents and students at the curb wearing face masks. Student Wellness Check questions will be asked and the student’s temperature taken. If the wellness check presents a health concern, the parent will be asked to park in an available space and an administrative team member will assist. If there are no concerns, the parent can sign the child into school.

Toddlers

Toddler parents will enter through the fire lane gate, park their car on the west (left) side of the MIR South Campus lot, and walk their child up to the Toddler gate. The sidewalk will be marked with tape for parents to wait in line at 6 ft intervals for social distancing. A staff member will hold the clipboard, ask parents health questions, and take temperatures. Classroom staff will take the child to the classroom and assist the child with handwashing.

Primary Curb (South Campus)

Families will enter in one line along the curb of the South campus parking lot to access the designated loading/unloading zone. A staff member will greet you at your car to ask the parent the health questions and take the child’s temperature. If there are no concerns, the staff member will facilitate the sign-in process with the parents. Once you are in the loading/unloading zone, a staff member will open the door and assist the child from the car. The child will carry their lunchbox. A staff will walk with the child to the classroom and open the door for them. The child will place the lunch box on the shelf and wash their hands.

Primary Curb (North Campus)

A staff member will greet you at your car to ask the parent the health questions, and take the child’s temperature. If there are no concerns, the staff member will facilitate the sign in process with the parents. A staff member will open the door and assist the child from the car. The child will carry their lunchbox. A staff will walk with the child to the classroom and open the door for them. The child will place the lunch box on the shelf and wash their hands

Elementary Curb (North Campus)

A staff member will greet you at your car to ask the parent the health questions and take the child’s temperature. If there are no concerns, the staff member will facilitate the sign-in process with the parents. Students take their lunch box (no backpack) and walk to the classroom. Staff members will help escort the student when they cross the parking lot, if necessary. Students place their lunch box on a shelf outside the classroom. Students are greeted by staff and sent to wash hands.

Afternoon Curb Pick-up

Toddlers

A staff member will meet parents at the Toddler gate. A staff member will be holding the clipboard, parents will sign out, and a staff member will retrieve the child(ren) whose parent is waiting.

Primary and Elementary

Parents will enter their appropriate pick-up line. Staff members will meet parents at their vehicles and facilitate the signing out. Additional staff members will escort students to the vehicle when their parents have arrived.

Parents will help the child if he or she needs help to buckle their seat belt.
