I am currently an assistant professor in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University.Β
In 2011, I graduated with First Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. Following that, I earned my Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology in 2016. During my doctoral studies, I was recognized with the Outstanding Student of the Year Award from the Aerospace Department for my extensive work on dynamics evaluation and control development for 3D aerial deceleration maneuvers. In 2017, I worked as a research fellow at NTU's School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, focusing on UAV development and exploring unconventional flight dynamics and control for UAV applications.
My research centers on Autonomous Flight, AI-driven UAV Applications, Drone Swarm Intelligence, and Space Situational Awareness. Currently, I lead the Intelligent Cybernetics Group (ICG) at NTU, serve as the UTM Project Lead at ATMRI NTU Singapore, and head autonomous flight control research at the NTU's eVTOL Research & Innovation Center. As a Principal Investigator, I have secured over SGD 9 million in research funding, delivering solutions to organizations like EDB, CAAS, and A*STAR in the field of AI-enabled UAV solutions, autonomous control, and mobile vision-based SSA systems. I have received the A*STAR Young Individual Research Grant Award, the prestigious MoE Tier 2 Research Grant, the Dr. S K Leung Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year Award. I also serve as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, an IEEE Member within the Robotics & Intelligent Sensing (RIS) Technical Committee of the SMC Society, and an Editorial Board Member of Nature Scientific Reports.
