About Us

After the "Epidemiological Features in spine pathology. Therapeutic updates in Neurosurgery.", an International Symposium organized by Dr Claudiu Matei and Polisano Hospital in Sibiu Romania in November 2013 (here), we wanted to create the Intraoperative Monitoring Group Barcelona IMGB, but there were several economic and technical limitations.

In July 2015, Jesús Lafuente Baraza, neurosurgeon working in Barcelona Spain and one of the MION Synapse Executive Board members came with the proposal to integrate the clinical neurophysiologists and neurosurgeons into the process of Intraoperative Neuromonitoring in a closer manner, but always with the high standard of professionalism of clinical neurophysiologists avoiding the other professionals interference into Clinical Neurophysiology.

On 3rd of May 2019, in Romania an informal meeting was held at "Marie Curie Emergency Children's Hospital" in Bucharest in which participated neurosurgeons Sorin Târnoveanu and Sory Ibrahim Fofana, clinical neurophysiologist Ovidiu C. Banea and Oana Tarța-Arsene, neurologist and pediatric epileptologist.

On 8th of October 2019, David Rodríguez Rubio, neurosurgeon, Jesús Lafuente Baraza, neurosurgeon, Cid Aurelio Delgado Pugley, clinical neurophysiologist and Ovidiu Constantin Banea, clinical neurophysiologist signed the constitutive act of MION Synapse in Barcelona, Spain.
