My name is Austin Bonbrake. I am an aspiring videogame designer and composer currently studying at Rochester Institute of Technology. I enjoy a wide variety of video game and music genres, and my projects reflect that.
One of my first video games was Twilight Princess, and the story telling had a significant impact on me growing up. Video games and other forms of fiction were a light that shined through the darkest moments of my life. I wish to share this hope through my games.
While I have been programming since I was in high school, the desire to make videogames has stuck with me since playing Twilight Princess and similar, story focused titles. My desire to tell a detail oriented, story focused game has led me to learn things useful for worldbuilding, such as cartography and etymology. Throughout my time learning and working on my projects, I have studied a variety of coding languages, such as C#, Python, JavaScript, and Batch. I have gained significant experience with Unity, and I have also dabbled in Unreal, Godot, and many other engines. I mostly make music with LMMS, but I am in the process of learning FL Studio. I wasn't raised in a system that provided computer science courses or mentors, so I'm mostly self-taught in these skills.
I was regarded as one of the youngest students to ever take and pass the placement exam at FLCC at the age of 13. Through perseverance, I managed to get my associate's degree in general studies just a few months after turning 18. I have qualified for Dean's List at FLCC, and I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Outside of developing and playing games, I enjoy hiking. I currently have a fairly lofty goal of hiking all of the trails in the state and have traversed many already throughout my life. I also greatly enjoy bowling and once got a score over 250.Â
