Age definitions are set by the USAV and the ODR, our governing bodies. Some athletes may qualify for two different age groups, depending on DOB and grade. 

Examples:
- A player was born on July 1, 2012, but is in the 7th grade. She qualifies to only play in the 14's division teams (because of her DOB).
- A player was born on July 1, 2011, but is in the 10th grade.  She qualifies to play 16s (her grade) or 15s (her age).

The chart below will help you determine which age group your child qualifies for.

During tryouts, we flag athletes who qualify for multiple age groups so our coaches can place them on the team we think is the best fit. If you prefer a specific age group, please let us know.

If you're unsure which age group to attend, please email info@coastvba.com and let us know her DOB and grade.

10's Division: Born on or after 7/1/16

11's Division: Born between 7/1/15 - 6/30/16

12's Division: Born between 7/1/14 - 6/30/15

13's Division: Born between 7/1/13 - 6/30/14

14's Division: Born between 7/1/12 - 6/30/13

15's Division: Born between 7/1/11 - 6/30/12

16's Division: Born between 7/1/10 - 6/30/11

17's Division: Born between 7/1/09 - 6/30/10  OR in the 11th Grade

18's Division: Born before 6/30/09  OR in the 12th Grade (maximum age of 19 years old)
