In addition to serving as a teaching fellow responsible for instructing a section of students, I was invited to lecture the class on the topic of school choice. I incorporated literature from the course in a presentation that placed these discussions of "school choice" within Black parents' advocacy for education - a topic of central interest for my research. Attendees were also privy to my journey from "Montclair to Michigan" and how discussions of school choice connected my field site to a national debates over education reform.
