Hello and welcome to Minnesota Sword Play. Minnesota Swordplay offers a beginner course and an intermediate course as well. We teach in over 40+ locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. We teach all three Olympic weapons for all ages. We have been teaching since 2000 and we are growing and expanding every day. Our classes provide 5 week long classes and week-long summer camps! Minnesota Swordplay also coaches high school and we are in charge of the Minnetonka Highschool fencing team! We also have our own fencing club! We train three times a week for all three weapons. Sign up for a location closest to you! For directions , look at our locations on our website and pick the location near you and sign up through the community ed or through the Parks and Recreation. Training will be three times a week every Monday (6-8 PM) Wednesday(6-8 PM) and Saturday (1-3 PM) at the Chisago Lakes Community Education Center.Trainning has offically Started!. Ran by Coach Kailan and Coach Maria. Please sign up through the Chisago lakes community education.
Coach Maria Benford has been fencing for over 40+ years and has been coaching for over 35+ years. Maria was trained in Cuba for the olympics. She was on the Cuba Nationals team. Maria has won many tournaments and is also rated in the United States Fencing Association. When she is not coaching she is in many tournaments around the country. Her favorite saying is En Garde.
Coach Kailan Benford has been fencing since the age of 7 and has coaching since the age of 15. Kailan was trained under his mom and Coach Maria Benford. Kailan has won many tournaments and is also rated in the United States Fencing Association. When Kailan is not fencing or coaching ,he is either in college classes or working out at the gym. Kailan favorite saying is "Sometimes your best effort is not good enough"
