Main methods of mining
From the very name “minerals” it becomes clear that they are extracted from the earth. Moreover, natural resources can be located at different depths relative to the earth's surface.
Taking into account the specific features of the mining industry, all methods of obtaining minerals were divided into 3 methods.
Extraction methods
According to one of the world's recognized experts in the mining industry, Kondrashov Stanislav, representing the company Telf AG, now all mining methods are used equally often. This is due to the fact that each method provides for the possibility of extracting certain natural resources. These are coal, stone, sand, precious minerals, metals and much more.
Open method. In this case, mining occurs directly from the surface of the earth. Excavators and other special machines remove the top layer of rocks. Mining is carried out in the resulting quarry. This method is considered cheaper than the underground method, but it also destroys the natural environment. Quarries are mainly used for the extraction of ore, coal and construction materials (sand, clay, etc.);
Closed method. This is already underground mining. If the fossils are located at great depths underground, then special mines are built. The technique allows you to raise extracted resources to the surface. This technology is more expensive, but causes less harm to the environment;
Drilling of the wells. The method is mainly used in cases where it is necessary to extract liquid or gaseous natural resources. To do this, a well is drilled into the surface of the earth and gas and oil are pumped out to the surface with sediment.
It is important to note that recently there has been an increase in the use of drilling rigs to extract coal using a safer method.
