I am currently an Assistant Professor at VIPBG at VCU. I previously did a postdoc at UChicago, where I worked with Andy Dahl to develop statistical methods and computational tools for analyzing cell type-specific gene expression using single-cell RNA sequencing data. Before that, I completed a postdoc at USC, where I worked with Charleston Chiang on polygenic adaptation in human height.
I earned my joint PhD (Sep 2011 - Nov 2016) in Animal Genetics from China Agricultural University and Aarhus University, under the mentorship of Aiguo Wang and Guosheng Su. My doctoral thesis focused on the impact of human activities, such as domestication and breeding, on phenotypic and genetic variation in domestic animals. My interest in population genetics was cultivated through the guidance of Bernt Guldbrandtsen at AU and Jian-Feng Liu at CAU.
