What I learned:

• work behind the scene in organizating a conference;
• working as a volunteer is a great way to meet other scholars and build the networks. Volunteers have more opportunities than mere attendants to get to know scholars who are engaged in organizating the conference and other fellow students who also work as volunteers.

What I learned:

• I had the opportunity to share the pitfalls and successful lessons I had experienced during my Ph.D. and received feedback and other stories from other Ph.D. fellow students.
• The doctoral student panent is a great opportunity for Ph.D. students to get to know each other better, learn from each other's stories, and hear insights from the professions in the program as well.

Served in an official student organization

• MU Vietnamese Student Association Treasurer, 2016-2017

What I learned:

• how to work as a team with other students on the board to run the organization and host meaningful professional and social events for other fellow students.

My overall reflections

The professional service activities I have engaged in in the past three years have helped me exposed to more research ideas in the area I am interested in. They also have helped me to evaluate the quality of a study and provide constructive feedback for other fellow scholars. These activities also brought opportunities for me to meet, connect with, and learn from other scholars in the field.

What I still need to improve

There are still other professional services that I have not participated in, for example, working as a discussant for a roundtable discussion or a panel or serving as a board member of a special interest group.

I plan to get involved in other professional services in the conferences I will be attending in the coming year.
