Welcome!

We are Robyn, Yumiko, and Maryam from Simon Fraser University. We look forward to meeting you at the workshop!

Workshop Date: Wed May 24th, 12:00 - 1:00 pm

Location: SWING 405

Contact: robyn_iltengee@sfu.ca, ymurai@sfu.ca, maryam_gharib@sfu.ca

What to  Bring

All you need is a curious mind and an open heart to explore and discuss the world of Minecraft and its possibilities (and limitations).

But if you can, please bring your laptop or tablet computer.

When you do, download and install the Minecraft Education Edition in advance of the workshop:

https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download

If you have an activated Microsoft 365 account, please bring the information with you as well.

*We do have several devices for you to borrow during the workshop so no worries if you cannot bring your own device.

Prior to Workshop

The following article nicely provides a context for the workshop. IF you have a moment (no worries if you don't), take a look and bring any phrases that stood out to you to the workshop!

López, L., de Wildt, L., & Moodie, N. (2019). ‘I don’t think you’re going to have any aborigines in your world’: Minecrafting terra nullius. British Journal of Sociology of Education, 40(8), 1037-1054. (Download password: may24inclusive)

If you are not familiar with Minecraft and want to get started with the workshop, feel free to try it out in your own time! Here's a guide for basic navigation:
