Just having basic tools in minecraft can be useful, but what if you want to enhance them? Through the use of the enchanting system, you can make your tools more powerful. From swords, to pickaxes and even fishing rods, almost all of your tools can be enchanted! To get started you'll need an enchanting table, this is the most important part of the process. An enchanting table can be crafted like this:
If all you want is basic enchantments, then this is the only tool you need. If you right click on this block, it opens up a menu that looks like this:
It will be blank like on top if there isn't an enchantable tool in the slot, if there is then it will look similar to the bottom. There will be a few options that you can choose from to enchant your tools. The weaker enchantments are generally on top and the stronger are usually on the bottom. The green numbers display how many levels you need to enchant that tools. You can get experience from hunting mobs, mining ores, smelting and breeding. The cryptic symbols are random and don't have an important meaning. The level cost varies from 1-30. To get the higher level enchantments, you need to place bookshelves around the enchanting table with one space in between the table and the bookshelf, like this:
If you don't know how to make a bookshelf, then check the resources available to you! This is just the basic, the enchantments you get are random and some are better than others, but they all have different useful effects to make your tools more powerful!
