Hello,

Some of our users are experiencing an issue with EE on chromeOS after the 1.20.12 update where randomly while using it, the app will freeze and trigger a generic "Minecraft Education isn't responding" error.

If the user clicks wait, it keeps working normally however the generic error window keeps popping up randomly while the app is in use. It does seem to occur more often on app load screens or menu screens than anywhere else, but it has popped up while playing the game also.

The user has updated to the latest stable crOS platform, minecraft itself has no updates, the device has been completely wiped & restored and the app reinstalled - I am at this stage wondering if it is an issue with the app itself.

I have wasted a lot of time trying to update OneDrive on my Windows 11 PC because the Software updater tells me I need to close OneDrive - whereas elsewhere it is not showing as Open and was in fact Unlinked and did not appear to need further updating - I was already signed up to automatic updating of Windows Programmes.

After Checking with Microsoft CoPilot - I was connected to a thread in Norton Community Forums which was started in November 2023 and to my surprise has been closed - but it seems as if has been a problem for others with a resolution being to close the Software Updater which CoPilot gave instructions about how to achieve this whilst supporting my plan to check items are updated via Microsoft Store - from where I mostly download programmes - at regular intervals.

I have now disabled the Software Updater and am seriously considering not renewing the Norton product when it next becomes due because it is wasting my time and otherwise some parts are unnecessary and thus I am paying for services that I do not need.

Be aware: Minecraft mods are sometimes saved in the minecraft.jar, so you will lose mods that use that method when updating or rolling back. If you use a mod loader/API (such as Forge or Fabric), updates need to be manually installed via the API's website in order to play mods on the newer version.

In the Minecraft Launcher, click "Options" and then click on the Path right behind "Game location on disk". In the File Explorer, open "bin" and in which you will find minecraft.jar. Copy it, for example to a folder on the desktop named "Minecraft Backups". It's recommend to create a subfolder which is named with the version which you are backing up, for example "1.2.5".

If you already have the minecraft.jar of the previous version (or Pre-Release), you just need to replace the minecraft.jar in the .minecraft/bin folder with your backed up version. The best way to do this is to delete the current one and then paste the wanted one in its place. Make sure it's named "minecraft.jar" or "minecraft" as well, if not name it that way (if it has the ending ".jar", rename it to "minecraft.jar", otherwise rename it to "minecraft".) 0852c4b9a8
