While multiplayer Minecraft servers are inaccessible during your free trial, LAN multiplayer is allowed with the limitation that only one demo account can join at a time. This is because the default trial name (Player) cannot be changed.

Try Minecraft free! Play the browser versions, official free trials, or redeem a free Minecraft account. Minecraft online with multiplayer is available, with the exception of the official trials which only allow singleplayer.

Visit minecraft.net, click on Minecraft, and then scroll down to find the free Java Edition trial. Select your PC type, whether it's Windows, Mac, or Linux, and hit the "Download Now" button. Once downloaded and installed, simply login and select "Play Demo World" to get started with the trial.

Visit minecraft.net, click on Minecraft, and then Choose the device you want to install the Bedrock Edition trial on. Unfortunately, there is currently no trial for iOS devices. A lot of users prefer this version because it has a cleaner interface and works on several mobile devices. This is great for trying out the game on the go, but also has a time limit.

Minecraft Education is available to anyone to try for free! There are two ways to try Minecraft Education for free, through the free trial or through the demo lesson. The free trial requires you to have a Entra ID account, either an Office 365 Education account or a Microsoft 365 account (Note: Personal versions of Office 365 or Microsoft 365 do not provide access nor trial access to Minecraft Education). The demo lesson does not require any account or log-in. This article provides information on how to use the free trial and the demo lesson.

Demo lessons allow you to try Minecraft Education for free and without an account. Each demo lesson has limited functionality: for example worlds and progress cannot be saved, and it is not possible to join or host a multiplayer game. Playing a demo lesson allows you the opportunity to experience a real lesson in Minecraft Education. There is no limit on the number of times you play each demo lesson.

This small pack contains the cow texture from the PC Gamer Demo of Minecraft, as well as the demo map. This is not my work, I simply took the files from the demo. This texture pack is just a curiosity for those who want the PC Gamer-branded cows in the standard game.

The texture should work on all versions of Minecraft, as it only alters the cow texture. The save is a clean world as it would appear at the beginning of the demo (a starting chest and a giant PC Gamer logo being two points of interest). The save folder and the texture zip are contained within the linked zip file:

if you don't want to install forge make a demo world and cleck esc when entered world then open to lan and enable cheats plus set gamemode to creative then go back to world go to chat and type /GameMode 1 to give you creative and if you want unlimited time just watch this

otherwise, if you want all that plus mods and shaders install forge then install optifine, then click the windows start button and are at the same time and type in the box that comes up type %appdata%, and file explorer will pop up then click on .minecraft and make a folder called mods if there isnt one already and put optifine in it plus whatever mods you like. if you want shaders download a shader then click windows start and r at same time, then go to .minecraft then make a folder called shaderpacks (all lower caps) and put the shader in it then after your done with all that restart your computer and voila it works like the real version except multplayer (it works on lan just not out of your wifi connection)

Is there a way to play demo mode from launcher on an already paid for account? The page says we can use the -demo flag, but that doesn't seem to work. I don't know anything about JVM Arguments. I know I can play the demo online, but I am wanting to play around with launcher in demo mode. Laige (talk) 19:53, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

I did all 3 steps outlined on the minecraft site, created an account, downloaded the (very small) .exe file, and logged into it, clicking "Play Demo" when it came back with the "Not Premium Member" message (because, naturally, I'm not a paying customer yet).

It looks like from this actual page on the wiki that this demo might be very new and just implemented as of August 1st, 2012. If anyone knows how to contact or notify the creators/distributors of the game itself of this bug, that'd be appreciated on both ends I'm sure (I can't find any contact info on the site or any way of reporting problems.)

(I posted about this on the minecraft forums, under the Support section, in the Minecraft Game Client subsection. But there are so many posts there about so many topics far beyond the demo stage, plus at least one other post I saw about problems with the demo, which had no responses, so I'm guessing it might get lost in the shuffle.) 97.120.64.157 18:33, 5 August 2012 (UTC) AviKyz (also my user/display name on the minecraft forums and, whenever I actually get to play it, in the game itself)

I loaded up a demo game (I haven't bought Minecraft yet, but I love the game anyways) and started searching around and I found a ravine, and started exploring. Even though the Restrictions section of the article says "Generated Structures" is turned off, I found some abandoned mineshafts and a dungeon in a few cave systems. Is the article wrong, or is it a glitch?

I started my demo in browser and everything went as it should with the timer counting down from 100 minutes. But I then downloaded the demo (to see if I could get a better frame rate) and I have found I can now play without the time limit and create multiple different worlds of any seed and in creative or hardcore mode. I stumbled across this when I entered my password wrong when logging in on the downloaded demo, the game told me the password was not recognized and gave me the option to play offline. I can do this every time, and it seems to be giving me access to far more than the demo is meant to.

I also dont remember what version i definitely remember playing on but it was one where there was no hunger, running, or jumping (i believe) and eating food directly healed your health straight away and it was the small worlds.
