I am running a ranch with a garden, I started by buying one pack of the starter crops but have been relying on the grass harvesting to get any other crops. I am wondering if anyone knows of a list of all the drops possible? because I have yet to get a few different ones, strawberries, green beans, aubergine, lettuce, pumpkin, watermelon, ect. I know I could buy them but it feels cheaty with how I've been playing.

I can confirm, grass, tall or not will drop seeds. I always end up with so many seeds, I must get rid of them. But yes, at first, it can be long to gather enough of them. Beet roots..even harder to get, well, impossible without a village. They were never added to the possible zombie drops like carrots and potatoes..why? No clue.

There is a 1 in 8 chance of getting seeds from tall grass (the Wiki says 1/24 but all the code that I've seen, for 1.6.4 to 1.10, says 1/8, and there is no mention of any changes in 1.11+. They probably just mined some grass and counted the number of seeds without getting a good sample size) and Fortune increases the number of seeds you get when they do drop by up to 2 per level, or 1-7, averaging 3.5, with Fortune III (it does not increase the drop chance so you still need to mine an average of 8 grass to get any drops):

This means that in order to get a stack of seeds you need to mine an average of 512 tall grass without Fortune and 146 with Fortune III, so they are not exactly that easy to get in large quantities; there is also no dependence on the biome or tool used and any impression that you get more from certain biomes is simply because they have more grass (for perspective, 512 grass is 2 chunks entirely covered with grass) and Fortune can be on any tool or even non-tool items since you can harvest them by hand (only shears are able to get the actual block).

Clay spawns in wetter areas in large clumps that replace some of the local dirt. Clay grows with grass above it and drops clay balls when broken. Clay will always have goldenrod flowers growing on top of it, which have dense green stems and yellow flowers on top. Using goldenrods is the easiest way to find clay, as goldenrods only spawn on top of clay.

Unlike in vanilla minecraft, dirt, grass, cobblestone and gravel are all affected by gravity. This means that without a block underneath them, they will fall similarly to vanilla sand. When grass starts falling it will turn into dirt.

Some items cause watered plants to drop items, such as Seeds or Fertilizer. If grass-fed cows receive these items, they will hold onto them and be marked by an exclamation point. Running into the grass-fed cow will pass the items onto the player.

When a block is broken, check if its the block you want, and if so cancel the event so that the natural block drop doesn't get dropped. Then, remove the block anyways, and randomly spawn an item to be the new drop. In this example I give dirt a 10% chance to drop grass and otherwise it drops dirt, but you could easily change this to be any other items and any other percentage. I also check if the player who broke the block is in not in creative, but that's optional. e24fc04721
