so i wanted to go to a specific seed in minecraft alpha and i managed to easily edit the random seed to the one i want using nbtexplorer but i hit kind of a roadblock, i need to delete all the chunk files in order to regenerate the world but every tutorial is for the modern versions and i have no clue what file in the alpha format is for chunks, any help would be appreciated

A very important issue not mentioned here is that prior to Beta 1.6 ores are much rarer in negative coordinates, with the southwest quadrant having the most amounts (note that this is relative to the movement of the sun, which used to rise in what is now the north; in newer versions +x, +z is to the southeast):

Otherwise, this guide is entirely applicable to older versions (and in fact the data they use came from release 1.1 so it is extremely outdated for modern versions, but the principles mentioned apply to any version); the best level to mine at is also y=11, or 12.62 according to F3 (if it existed back then; F3 showed your eye level until 1.8, which only shows feet level with versions like 1.6.4 showing both), or just find a cave that goes down to lava level (this is the safest layer since lava is directly below you, with no drop):

A chart of ore distribution before and after Beta 1.8 (the changes mentioned are only relevant to caving, which was nerfed by 50%, or multi-level branch-mines, otherwise branch-mining only depends on the per-layer density, which was unchanged; Beta 1.8 itself applies to versions up to 1.7.10, with release 1.8 increasing the size of all deposits by about 20%):

I looked it up, but nothing was helpful other than this post from almost 5 years ago, which I haven't tried the solution because I'm unsure if it'll work: -edition-support/2641761-alpha-1-1-2_01-windows-game-crash-on-world-load

I have some seeds from some old worlds I want to see again, is there a mod that allows the ability to create alpha worlds with seeds or would it be possible to make a world blank but with the seed so that when the world is loaded it generates the world with seed using the generation type of that version?

I found a mod that let's you use old alpha seeds if you're still looking for this. There's no need to do this whole world update stuff just download this mod for 1.12.2. I know it says it's a server plugin, but I can 100% guarantee that it will work like any other mod, just download forge for minecraft 1.12.2 and drag this mod into the mod folder, when you're creating a world, select "world type: alpha 1.1.2_01" and then you're done. This mod doesn't generate villages or anything like that, but if you're using mods such as recurrent complex, rouge-like dungeons etc. it will generate those structures. Anyway Here's the link.

The first major update, dubbed Alpha, was released on 30 June 2010.[113][114] Although Persson maintained a day job with Jalbum.net at first, he later quit in order to work on Minecraft full-time as sales of the alpha version of the game expanded.[115] Persson continued to update the game with releases distributed to users automatically. These updates included new items, new blocks, new mobs, survival mode, and changes to the game's behavior (e.g. how water flows).[115] To back the development of Minecraft, Persson set up a video game company, Mojang, with the money earned from the game.[116][117][118] Mojang co-founders included Jakob Porser, one of Persson's coworkers from King, and Carl Manneh, jAlbum's CEO.[101]

In August 2011, Minecraft: Pocket Edition was released for the Xperia Play on the Android Market as an early alpha version. It was then released for several other compatible devices on 8 October 2011.[142][143] An iOS version of Minecraft was released on 17 November 2011.[144] A port was made available for Windows Phones shortly after Microsoft acquired Mojang.[145] The port concentrates on the creative building and the primitive survival aspect of the game and did not contain all the features of the PC release.[citation needed] On his Twitter account, Jens Bergensten said that the Pocket Edition of Minecraft is written in C++ and not Java, due to iOS not being able to support Java.[146] However, there now exists a way to play Java Edition on both Android and iOS devices.[147][148]

A version of Minecraft for the Raspberry Pi was officially revealed at Minecon 2012. The Pi Edition is based on an alpha version of Pocket Edition with the added ability of using text commands to edit the game world. Players can open the game code and use the Python programming language to manipulate things in the game world.[191] It also includes a scripting API to modify the game, and server software for multiplayer. The game was leaked on 20 December 2012, but was quickly pulled off.[192] It was officially released on 11 February 2013.[193] Mojang stopped providing updates to Minecraft: Raspberry Pi Edition in 2016. It is preinstalled on Raspberry Pi OS and can be downloaded for free from the official Minecraft website.[194]

A review of the alpha version, by Scott Munro of the Daily Record, called it "already something special" and urged readers to buy it.[250] Jim Rossignol of Rock Paper Shotgun also recommended the alpha of the game, calling it "a kind of generative 8-bit Lego Stalker".[251] On 17 September 2010, gaming webcomic Penny Arcade began a series of comics and news posts about the addictiveness of the game.[252] The Xbox 360 version was generally received positively by critics, but did not receive as much praise as the PC version. Although reviewers were disappointed by the lack of features such as mod support and content from the PC version, they acclaimed the port's addition of a tutorial and in-game tips and crafting recipes, saying that they make the game more user-friendly.[91] The Xbox One Edition was one of the best received ports, being praised for its relatively large worlds.[253]

After the release of Minecraft, other video games were released with various similarities to Minecraft, and some were described as being "clones". Examples include Ace of Spades, CastleMiner, CraftWorld, FortressCraft, Terraria, BlockWorld 3D, Total Miner,[385] and Minetest.[386] David Frampton, designer of The Blockheads, reported that one failure of his 2D game was the "low resolution pixel art" that too closely resembled the art in Minecraft, which resulted in "some resistance" from fans.[387] A homebrew adaptation of the alpha version of Minecraft for the Nintendo DS, titled DScraft, has been released; it has been noted for its similarity to the original game considering the technical limitations of the system.[388] In response to Microsoft's acquisition of Mojang and their Minecraft IP, various developers announced further clone titles developed specifically for Nintendo's consoles, as they were the only major platforms to not officially receive Minecraft at the time.[389] These clone titles include UCraft (Nexis Games),[390] Cube Life: Island Survival (Cypronia),[391] Discovery (Noowanda),[392] Battleminer (Wobbly Tooth Games),[393] Cube Creator 3D (Big John Games),[394] and Stone Shire (Finger Gun Games).[395] Despite this, the fears of fans were unfounded, with official Minecraft releases on Nintendo consoles eventually resuming.[396][397][11]

hopefully you can emulate them again! I know how it feels to lose a ps3 sadly, mine froze and just stopped working completely. Along with the disc, I have no clue where it went. I just wanted to say your comment really brought me back when I did play minecraft on the ps3, when I was sick from school (2nd grade) and hopped on my parents ps3 and played minecraft almost all day, waiting for me to feel better. This game brings a smile, nostalgic feeling to me. Ps3 slims I think are a lot more cheaper than the actual ps3's (base model) I'm pretty sure you can find one on ebay a lot cheaper! Good luck to getting a ps3 again so you can relive the times when you played Minecraft: PS3 Edition. :)

So I'm not completely sure as I've never had a PS3, but I remember hearing something on a Reddit thread that a bricked PS3 can be fixed by just dropping it straight down, just like picking it straight up a foot off the ground and dropping it. I heard about 3 different people saying it worked I think. Although Reddit sometimes isn't the best place to get tech advice, if you're completely out of options and willing to try anything, it might be worth a shot.

Tbh, this soundtrack was SUPER nostalgic to me. I played on my PS3 all the time when I was young. However, eventually the controllers stopped working, and sure, we got new games when the controllers still had little life in them, but it was too late. My parents didn't like the idea of getting new ones, so they put it on the lawn (Along side a normal PS3 a friend donated) and SHOT THEM BOTH. However, I saved the discs that we have, and eventually I'm hoping I can get a emulator and play those games again! Or I could get another PS3 Slim with 2 controllers, but they are probably expensive together.

Like most other people who have commented here, I LOVE retro stuff. When I heard of Sonic (From the movies somehow) I looked so far back, I know nearly all the games from 1991 to 2023. I even play games that are older than me, thanks to Nintendo Switch Online. And Yes, the Switch is way too bland and it needs to be more Alive, like the 3DS and Wii U. It's sad to see a company known for being aimed at kids has fallen to a depressed adult like McDonald's. I know a lot of people are mad I said that, but to me the burgers taste like cardboard, the burgers don't fill you up, and the chips are too small. However, the chicken nuggets are awsome, but we don't go there just for chicken nuggets. Hungry Jacks/Burger king is way better in my opinion. And all of the people go to McDonald's... And also, all the jerks go there too! Speaking of Jerks...

My school is full of them! You can go to the bathroom in lessons (If you have the right teacher) and you might see some dude vaping or on his phone. I can tell from noise alone, girls are doing TikToks in the bathroom, because TikTok is a plague, and anyone who uses it is dead to me. You could also say Youtube shorts, and yes, but then my sister would be dead to me. Youtube shorts tried to be TikTok, but became Tiktok. And people know that if they have the Tiktok logo, they won't get any money from their videos. So they crop the videos and make 2x the money. Gen Z is probably the worst type of people, and Gen X isn't that far behind. I think the ban on phones at school is a good idea, just people will try to go to the bathroom alot more to do such and such. I am just disappointed in our generation, as nearly everyone is a jerk, an Idiot, or a person with nothing better to do than to make others sadder than them.
