This Privacy Policy explains how MindRank ("the app", "we", "us") accesses, collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes your information when you use the app. By using MindRank you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. SUMMARY (THE SHORT VERSION)
• You can play MindRank without any account ("guest mode") — guest progress stays on your device.
• If you sign in with Google, we store your game profile in the cloud so you can battle other players and keep your progress.
• We show optional rewarded ads (you choose to watch them) served by Google AdMob.
• We never sell your personal data.
• There is no free-text chat in MindRank — players communicate only through a fixed set of emoji, so no personal messages are collected.
• You can delete your account and all data from inside the app (Settings → Delete account) or by email request (Section 9).
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2a. Information you provide
• Battle name (a display name you choose) — collected at onboarding/Settings — shown to other players in battles, friends lists and leaderboards.
• Country ("homeland") you select — collected at onboarding/Settings — determines the regional question content you receive and shows a flag beside your name. This is your explicit choice; we do not use GPS or location services.
• Google account name, email address and profile photo — only if you sign in with Google — used for account creation, cloud save, and restoring progress on new devices.
2b. Information created by playing
• Game progress (coins, ranks, track progress, streaks, unlocked content) — core gameplay; synced to the cloud when signed in.
• Battle data (scores, match results, room participation) — running real-time multiplayer matches and showing results.
• Online status (online / in battle / offline) — shown to other players so they can challenge you; required for matchmaking.
• Friends list and friend requests — the social features you actively use.
• Emoji reactions sent during battles — displayed briefly to other players in the same match, then removed.
• Purchase state for coin packs — delivering products you buy. Payment itself is processed entirely by Google Play; we never see your card or banking details.
2c. Information collected automatically
• Device identifiers (e.g. advertising ID), approximate device information, and ad interaction data — collected by Google AdMob — for serving and measuring rewarded ads.
• App usage and diagnostic events (installs, sessions, crashes, general device type) — collected by Google Firebase Analytics — for understanding aggregate app performance and stability. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally to us.
MindRank does NOT collect: precise location/GPS, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, SMS, call logs, or free-text messages.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
• To operate the game: progress saving, matchmaking, real-time battles, leaderboards, friends and invitations.
• To deliver content suited to the country you selected.
• To deliver purchases and grant ad-watch rewards.
• To maintain fairness and safety (e.g. preventing duplicate-account abuse and cheating).
• To measure and improve app stability and performance (aggregate analytics).
We do NOT use your data for marketing emails, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.
4. THIRD PARTIES WE SHARE DATA WITH
We only share data with the service providers that make the app function. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, Analytics) — sign-in, cloud saves, multiplayer, presence, analytics — policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• Google AdMob — rewarded advertising — policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
• Google Play Billing — in-app purchases (we never receive your payment details) — policy: policies.google.com/privacy
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. DATA SECURITY
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Google's cloud infrastructure, protected by Firebase security rules that restrict each user's data to that user's authenticated account. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but we follow industry-standard practices and the principle of collecting only what the game needs.
6. DATA RETENTION
• Guest data lives only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app or use "Delete account" in Settings.
• Cloud account data is retained while your account is active.
• Match/room data (duels, squads, reactions) is transient and routinely removed after matches end.
• When you delete your account, associated data is deleted as described in Section 9. Limited records may be retained where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, and only for as long as necessary.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you have rights under laws including the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA/NDPR):
• Access — ask what personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — fix inaccurate data (battle name and homeland are editable in-app).
• Deletion — erase your account and data (Section 9).
• Portability — receive a copy of your data in a common format.
• Objection / restriction — object to certain processing.
• CCPA: right to know, delete, and opt out of "sale or sharing" — we do not sell personal data. We do not discriminate against users who exercise privacy rights.

8. ADVERTISING CHOICES
• All ads in MindRank are optional rewarded ads — they play only when you choose to watch them.
• You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ads personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads on most Android devices).
9. ACCOUNT DELETION (IN-APP AND BY WEB REQUEST)
In the app (immediate): Settings → Account → Delete account → confirm. This permanently erases your cloud profile (coins, ranks, streaks, friends, friend requests, presence records) and your Google-linked game account, plus all local data. This is real deletion, not deactivation, and it cannot be undone.
By email request (if you can no longer access the app): email Nifabiq@gmail.com from the Google account email you used to sign in, with the subject line "MindRank Account Deletion Request". We will verify the request and delete your account and associated data within 30 days, and confirm by reply. This page serves as the web deletion resource for Google Play's account-deletion requirement.
Data that cannot be linked to you after deletion (e.g. aggregate analytics) may persist in anonymized form.
10. CHILDREN
MindRank is a general-audience educational quiz game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). Account creation via Google sign-in is subject to Google's own age requirements. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us at Nifabiq@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Our service providers (Google) may process data on servers located outside your country, including the United States and the EU, under safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses maintained by Google.
12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, if we add push notifications). Material changes will be announced in the app, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
