Privacy Policy for MindList

1. Overview

MindList is a personal thought capture app built around one principle: your thoughts are yours. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, what we don't, and how the app works.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

MindList does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Your name, email address, or any account information

• Your notes or thought entries

• Your location

• Your device identifiers

• Usage analytics or behavioral data

• Advertising identifiers

There are no accounts. There is no sign-up. There is no cloud sync operated by MindList.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

All notes you create in MindList are stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences storage. When you delete the app, all locally stored notes are permanently deleted.

4. Google Backup

MindList supports Android's automatic backup system provided by Google. If you have Google Backup enabled on your device, your notes may be backed up to your personal Google Drive account and restored when you install MindList on a new device signed into the same Google account.

This backup is handled entirely by Google and is subject to Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. MindList does not have access to, control over, or visibility into your Google Backup data.

To disable this: Go to your device Settings → Google → Backup → and toggle off backup for MindList, or disable Google Backup entirely.

5. AI Features (Premium)

MindList Premium includes an AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use the AI voice assist feature:

• Your spoken input is transcribed by Android's built-in speech recognition service (Google)

• The transcribed text is sent to Anthropic's API to determine your intent and generate a response

• Your existing notes (up to 50) may be included as context to help the AI find or reference relevant notes

• This data is transmitted securely over HTTPS and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy

We do not store, log, or retain any data sent to or received from the Anthropic API. Each request is independent.

If you do not use AI features, no data is ever transmitted off your device by MindList.

6. Microphone

MindList requests microphone permission to enable voice input. The microphone is only activated when you explicitly tap the microphone button or the AI assist button. We do not listen passively or record audio in the background.

Voice input is processed by Android's built-in speech recognition (RecognizerIntent) and is subject to Google's privacy policy.

7. Biometric Authentication

MindList offers optional biometric lock using Android's BiometricPrompt API. Biometric data (fingerprints, face data) is processed entirely by your device's secure hardware and never accessed or stored by MindList.

8. Home Screen Widget

The MindList home screen widget uses the same local storage as the main app. No additional data is collected or transmitted by the widget.

9. Third-Party Services

MindList uses the following third-party services:

Anthropic Claude API / AI intent detection and response

anthropic.com/privacy

Google Speech Recognition / Voice-to-text transcription

policies.google.com/privacy

Google Backup / Optional device-to-device data transfer

policies.google.com/privacy

No advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking libraries are included in MindList.

10. Children's Privacy

MindList does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. The app contains no features designed to collect information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
