  1. ABOUT THIS APP                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

  Pause is a digital wellbeing app available on Android and iOS that helps users build healthier screen habits through breathing exercises and mindful interventions.                                                                        

  2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

  - Account Information: Phone number for secure authentication via Firebase.                                                                                                                                                                

  - App Usage Data: Which apps you choose to manage and intervention outcomes (whether you resisted or opened the app).

  - Intervention Logs: Breathing exercise duration, technique used, and completion status.                                                                                                                                                   

  - Leaderboard Data: Display name, resist count, and rank tier — visible to other users on the global leaderboard.                                                                                                                          

  3. PLATFORM-SPECIFIC PRACTICES                                                                                                                                                                                                             

  Android: Uses an Accessibility Service to detect when managed apps are opened and present breathing exercises.                                                                                                                             

  iOS: Uses Apple Shortcuts automations configured by the user to trigger breathing exercises. The app does not access Screen Time data, app usage statistics, or any system-level monitoring. All automation is user-initiated.             

  4. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

  - Core Features: Tracking your progress, streaks, and time reclaimed.                                                                                                                                                                      

  - Leaderboard: Displaying resist counts and rank tiers to motivate users.

  - Improvements: Aggregated, de-identified data may be used to improve app features.                                                                                                                                                        

  - No Selling: We never sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.                                                                                                                                                      

  5. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY                                                                                                                                                                                                               

  - Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest within Firebase (Google Cloud).                                                                                                                                         

  - Local Storage: Data is stored locally on your device and synced to Firebase when connected.

  - Retention: Data is retained only while your account is active.                                                                                                                                                                           

  6. YOUR RIGHTS

  - Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from Settings in the app.                                                                                                                                                          

  - Opt-out: Remove Shortcuts automations (iOS) or revoke permissions (Android) at any time.

  7. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES                                   

  - Firebase (Google Cloud): Authentication, data storage, and analytics.

  - Apple Shortcuts (iOS): User-configured automations.

  8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

  Pause is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
