The Mind-Brain Lab investigates how our minds create and regulate conscious experience.
Our first research focus examines how subjective experience emerges from the integration of external sensory information with internal mental processes. We study patterns of repetitive thinking to understand individual differences in cognitive flexibility and mental health.
Our second research focus centres on awareness—the brain's ability to monitor and evaluate its own cognitive processes. This metacognitive capacity allows us to assess our performance and calibrate confidence in our decisions.
We use neuroimaging and behavioural methods to map the neural mechanisms underlying consciousness and metacognition in both healthy and clinical populations. Our research is conducted in collaboration with psychiatrists to bridge basic neuroscience with clinical practice.
