Research Goals
Development and verification of core technology for turtle-mimicked tidal current generator equipped with launch/recovery device and ESS
Research Items
To develop a power generation system that uses the turtle's four-legged structure as a turbine blade, is self-driven by flow, makes reciprocating rotational motion, and converts and stores this kinetic energy into electrical energy.
Key technologies for this are:
1) Reciprocating blade (or hydrofoil) shape and motion design
2) Self-driving mechanism and body design
3) Power transmission design including unidirectional rotational conversion mechanism
4) Electric field design including power generation and energy storage system
5) Launch-recovery device design.
The design and verification methodology is planned to be developed for each element in 1 year and 6 months, Subsystem design and verification will be conducted in next 1 year and prototype fabrication and implementation will be done for last 2 years. This project aims to achive TRL 4 or higher of this machine.
