The Department of Education (DepEd) of MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) started “BASA MIMAROPA” a literacy program which aimed to address the literacy difficulties of students in the region.
Amidst the controversy to change the current K to 12 program to K+10+2 in the senate panel, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Education (DepEd) of MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Cherrylou D. Repia believed that "Education should not be a political matter".
